Southwest FLorida International Airport Fuel Tank Expansion
Project Description
With continued growth across Southwest Florida and the expansion of terminal capacity at RSW, additional jet fuel storage infrastructure became critical to support increasing flight volume and aircraft demand. Impact Concrete was selected to deliver the structural concrete scope for the airport’s fuel tank expansion project.
Our team constructed three reinforced jet fuel tank foundations totaling over 1,000 cubic yards of concrete and more than 150 tons of galvanized reinforcing steel. The scope also included approximately 1,200 linear feet of 12-inch-thick reinforced concrete barrier walls and the removal and replacement of 30,000 square feet of heavy-duty concrete pavement and subgrade improvements to accommodate continuous tanker truck traffic.
All work was executed within an active airport fuel facility under tight timelines. Careful coordination, detailed planning, and strict safety controls were required to complete the project without disrupting ongoing fueling operations.
